FLOOR CARE TECHNICIAN JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Floor Care Technician is responsible for ensuring that Epworth Villa remains clean, orderly, and attractive to the residents and guests. The Floor Care Technician will work with a minimum of supervision to ensure that all flooring types throughout the facility are maintained in a high state of cleanliness, safeness, and readiness.

The ideal Floor Care Technician candidate has a minimum of 6 months flooring maintenance experience as well as familiarity with flooring machines and miscellaneous tooling.

 

FLOOR CARE TECHNICIAN RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Reports and eliminates all hazards on the floor and takes steps to ensure floors are kept free of hazards.
  • Vacuums all carpeted areas daily.
  • Sweeps and wet mops all uncarpeted areas daily and ensures appropriate wet floor signs are placed when floors are wet.
  • Buffs/waxes all uncarpeted areas as scheduled.
  • Shampoos carpets according to schedule.
  • Removes and cleans any area rugs.
  • Maintains floor care equipment in working order.
  • Reports immediately any malfunctions or need for replacement issues about floor care equipment to the General Services Manager.
  • Assembles and disbands chairs, tables, microphones, etc., for meetings and/or special events as directed or as outlined in written order for room set-up.
  • Moves residents’ furniture and performs deep cleanings.
  • Inspects and cleans trash closets and empties trash receptacles.
  • Buffs and waxes all other flooring.
  • Acts upon work orders as assigned.
  • Examines rooms, halls, and lobbies to determine need for repairs or replacement of furniture or equipment and makes recommendations to management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS


  • Floor care experience required---6 months.
  • Knowledge of floor care machines.
  • Fluent English speaking/writing communication skills.
  • Must be able to deal tactfully with staff, residents, family members, and visitors.
  • Must be able to maintain general sanitary/safety practices.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have a genuine desire to work with the elderly and/or disabled.
  • Current CPR certification.
